Welcome from our Program Co-Chairs

Are you looking for a place to get involved in integrative or holistic medicine?

Are you looking to learn more about the field?

Are you in this field already and looking for like-minded individuals with whom to collaborate and fellowship?

The American Holistic Medical Association and International College of Integrative Medicine are tremendously excited about the opportunity to come together in a joint conference on Mental Wellness in the 21st Century! We believe that providing great care is about more than just the accumulation of left-brained knowledge. It is an extension of our selves. We must care for our own healing and attend to our own support and interconnections in order to help others move along their path.

As this movement has progressed over the past two decades we have seen increasing numbers of organizations, many with similar purpose and intent, yet existing as isolated islands. We need to get connected to each other. In that spirit, we as organizations are reaching out to dialogue with and learn from each other and further our common mission of bringing more integrative/holistic healing to an ailing healthcare system and a hurting world.

At the conference, you will find expert information and food for your soul. You will hear terrific speakers and have time for fellowship through music and celebration in Nashville, one of the premier music destinations of the world.

Dr. Robert T. Browne, an African American philosopher of the early 20th Century stated, “In Union there is strength, there is collaboration, there is growth, there is knowledge, there is love and loving kindness.”

In Nashville we will:

- Learn about the different approaches to diagnose, investigate and treat disorders of the mind and the nervous system.

- Look at the role of neurotransmitters and how to utilize nutrients and pharmacotherapy in achieving optimal levels.

- Discuss sleep, its physiology, and the multifactorial management of insomnia.

- Consider the role of spirituality in the management of depression.

- Explore the use of botanicals, vitamins, and amino acids in the management of neuro-psychiatric conditions; and talk about which diets can be more effective in modulating and enhancing health.

This is a meeting that will be instructional to physicians/practitioners of all backgrounds. As ICIM and the AHMA always promise, there will be plenty of practical applications that you can safely and competently implement in your offices at your return.

Mark your calendars and come be a part of this new spirit of collaboration! It’s about time.
